Fukushima: two years on

  • Radio interview: “Fukushima – two years on” – 2013

Two years after the massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan that killed more than 15,000 people and triggered the Fukushima nuclear disaster, hundreds of thousands of people remain homeless. Tens of thousands of people protested in Tokyo ahead of the anniversary to urge the government to abandon nuclear power, but the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, says he wants to switch more nuclear plants back on. I spoke to Alishan Tumer, Greenpeace’s international nuclear campaigner, about the ongoing impact of the Fukushima disaster. Interview broadcast on RFI English on 11th March.
